The only weaknesses of Songs of Faith and Devotion were the Judas and Get Right With Me, which sound like B-sides compared to the other songs: but the miracle made by Depeche Mode was precisely in having minimized this type of songs, succeeding in achieving what probably is their best work, in that impossible situation. It also topped the charts in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, and Switzerland. “Judas”, the song here, caught my attention a bit late. Listening to Songs of Faith and Devotion of course you would first start liking “I Feel You” and then “Walking in My Shoes”, “Condemnation”, “One Caress”, each and every song, it just grew on you. Dark and passive-aggressive electronic at its best. 1993’s Songs of Faith and Devotion is one of my most favourites from all of Depeche Mode’s albums.
